Brigette Renaud is a member of Barton’s Labor and Employment Practice Group.

Brigette’s practice focuses on employee benefits for employers, including retirement benefits, and welfare benefit plans under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended (ERISA), and equity-based compensation. This includes compliance, merger and acquisition transaction matters and plan design for both for-profit and tax-exempt organizations, amendments and compliance, Internal Revenue Code requirements, fiduciary advisement for ERISA and non-ERISA plans and trusts, including the investment of plan assets, and severance plans and agreements.

Brigette maintains a deep technical knowledge with a practical perspective through her combined law firm, in-house counsel, and consulting experience. She has provided advice and solutions in the pension and tax areas to for-profit and tax-exempt organizations and individuals as an attorney at major New York City law firms including Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP; Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, and Epstein, Becker & Green, P.C. As a principal benefits consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, she advised Fortune 500 companies in qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, global stock option plans and provided assistance during governmental audits of their plans. Brigette also led a legal department serving as in-house General Counsel and Secretary to a large tax-exempt pension fund where she was responsible for all legal needs, including the fund’s pension plans, private equity investment contracts, advisement to the investment committee and corporate governance.

Brigette is admitted to the State Bars of New York and New Hampshire. Brigette earned her B.S. from the University of New Hampshire, J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law, and an L.L.M. in Tax Law from New York University School of Law.

Brigette is fluent conversationally in French.
