Hull Barrett, PC joined 220 firms and other legal organizations to participate in the statewide food and fund drive competition, sponsored by the Georgia Office of the Attorney General and the Georgia State Bar in partnership with the Georgia Food Bank from April 23rd to May 4, 2012. The Georgia Legal Food Frenzy was the first ever statewide competition that pitted legal organizations against each other to donate non-perishable food items to help more than the 1.6 million people who need food assistance throughout Georgia.

“The goal of the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy was to raise food and funds for Georgia’s seven regional food banks, which work with more than 2,500 partner agencies and pantries to distribute more than 90 million pounds of food annually to all 159 counties in Georgia,” said Attorney General Sam Olens. “The competition occurred as food banks are preparing for the critical summer months when they see a spike in demand. Nearly 60% of Georgia’s public school students are eligible for either a free or reduced lunch each day, and families of many of these children rely on food banks to provide a complete, balanced meal when their children are not in school.”

The competition netted 612,497 pounds of food with Hull Barrett, PC contributing 1,961 pounds of food. "I am proud of the Georgia legal community for their overwhelming generosity and commitment to Georgia’s less fortunate families struggling with hunger. I am elated by the success this first year and look forward to an even stronger competition next year," said Olens.
