Collins & Lacy, P.C. is pleased to announce co-founder Stan Lacy has been chosen as the Platinum recipient for the 2016 Compleat Lawyer Award, given by the University of South Carolina School of Law. A special dinner honoring the recipients was held in Columbia, South Carolina on April 21, 2016.
The Compleat Lawyer Awards were established in 1992 by the University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Council to recognize alumni for outstanding civic and professional accomplishments. Recipients are individuals who have made significant contributions to the legal profession and exemplify the highest standards of professional competence, ethics, and integrity.
“After practicing law for over 40 years, I have to say receiving this recognition is definitely a highlight in my legal career,” said Lacy. “It really is a privilege to take home this esteemed honor, and I am proud to have my name alongside so many others I truly admire.”
“Given the purpose of the Compleat Lawyer Award,” said Joel Collins, co-founder of Collins & Lacy, “and given the criteria of selection for recipients of this award, no one is more deserving than Stan Lacy.”
Lacy co-founded Collins & Lacy, P.C. in 1984 and has devoted his practice to workers’ compensation defense. Over the years, he has argued many landmark cases to the Supreme Court, managing appeals to all appellate court levels, and working on industry-changing legislation on behalf of South Carolina. Lacy has taught workers’ compensation as an adjunct instructor at the University of South Carolina School of Law since 1981.
“I can think of no attorney more deserving of this honor than Stan Lacy,” said Ellen Adams, workers’ compensation practice group chair. “His influence spans the classroom, the court room, the community, and the General Assembly. We are so proud of our partner, Stan Lacy.”
Lacy is also a certified South Carolina Circuit Court Mediator with plans to shift his career to focus on mediating cases in South Carolina.
