Expertise in inheritance and estate law

As a lawyer specializing in inheritance law, Sarah Liebisch provides legal counsel in all areas of estate planning, probate, and inheritance disputes. In collaboration with Dr. Thomas Bichat, Ms. Liebisch treats each client with the necessary sensitivity and tact in inheritance matters.

Estate planning and will drafting

Attorney Liebisch assists clients with estate planning through comprehensive estate planning services. She advises on the preparation of handwritten and notarized wills,  joint wills, and inheritance contracts. She clarifies all essential questions – who should receive what share, how assets can be transferred during one's lifetime, and what tax implications must be considered.

Compulsory share law and business succession

The compulsory share guarantees certain close relatives a minimum portion of the estate, regardless of any testamentary dispositions. Attorney Liebisch advises on calculating compulsory share claims, drafting agreements to waive compulsory shares, and the strict requirements for disinheritance. For those entitled to a compulsory share, she calculates claims, negotiates settlements, and, if necessary, enforces these claims in court.

For entrepreneurs, lawyer Liebisch develops solutions for business succession, taking into account company structures, transfer timing, and tax implications. Her services include advising on family succession solutions, family foundations, and hybrid succession models that combine several approaches.

Probate proceedings and inheritance disputes

Attorney Liebisch guides clients through all phases of estate administration – from applying for a certificate of inheritance to the legally sound division of the estate. In  cases involving multiple heirs, she assists with the joint management of the estate, drafts settlement agreements, and represents clients in partition proceedings. She handles will contests and inheritance disputes both out of court and in court.

Specialization: Equine Law

Sarah Liebisch combines legal expertise with practical riding experience in her work with horse owners, breeders, and buyers. She advises on equine law, including warranty claims when purchasing a horse, liability issues, and contractual matters.

Buying, selling, and warranties for horses

Attorney Liebisch assists buyers and sellers with  horse purchases in Germany. She reviews and drafts purchase agreements and assesses warranty clauses. In disputes concerning guaranteed characteristics or the horse's condition, Attorney Liebisch represents clients in warranty cases, collaborates with veterinary experts, and develops strategies for price reductions, contract rescission, or the enforcement of claims for damages.

Equine law contracts and liability

Attorney Liebisch drafts and reviews contracts related to equestrian sports, including boarding and training agreements. Animal owner liability under Section 833 of the German Civil Code (BGB) establishes strict liability for horse owners for damages caused by their animals. Attorney Liebisch advises on liability issues for animal owners and facility operators and represents clients in related disputes.

Expertise through personal experience

Horses have been her constant companions since childhood. With her first pony, she became state champion in her home region, was twice a member of the pony dressage squad, and achieved success up to the M level in dressage. She earned her trainer's license in Neustadt/Dosse and gained professional experience in training stables and as the manager of a riding school in the Siegerland region. During her legal traineeship, she completed her elective placement with the German Equestrian Federation. Attorney Liebisch also holds a degree in equestrian management and participates in the annual German Equestrian Law Conference.
