Amy P. Meyer is an experienced litigator with a diverse background in the defense of healthcare facilities and practitioners. Amy now focuses her practice in the areas of insurance defense, medical malpractice, general civil litigation, and nursing home/assisted living defense. She began her legal career as an attorney with the Florida Department of Health, Prosecution Services Unit, where she served as counsel to the Division of Medical Quality Assurance for matters before the Board of Nursing. She moved to Jacksonville in 2003 and entered private practice in insurance defense. In 2005, she began working at the University of Florida where she specialized in health law, medical practice defense, and general liability defense. She rejoined the Department of Health as Chief Legal Counsel for Duval County in 2016 and took on the responsibility of additional counties as her experience grew. Ms. Meyer is also a Certified Professional Risk Manager. She is active in the Jacksonville community serving as the Chair for a Night for Heroes (fundraiser for UF Health Jacksonville).
