Jamie joined PKF on August 1, 2007 and his practice is focused upon family law.
Majoring in political science and economics, Jamie received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Winnipeg in 1989 and his law degree from the University of Manitoba in 1994. While at Robson Hall at the University of Manitoba Jamie was the recipient of the David Levin Memorial Prize for highest standing in Landlord and Tenant Relations. It was while attending Robson Hall that Jamie first met Tom Frohlinger as a student in Tom's class in Debtors and Creditors Rights and Obligations. The impact was immediately obvious as a mere 13 years later Jamie joined in practice with PKF.
Since his call to the Bar in 1995 his practice has been focused on civil and family litigation. In 2007 Jamie decided to join PKF in order to provide his clients the resources and breadth of expertise of a full service law firm.
Jamie attempts to resolve matters in an amicable fashion for his clients whenever possible and to vigorously contest matters when settlement efforts fail. Jamie comes from an entrepreneurial background and is able to draw upon his business experience in representing entrepreneurs and business people dealing with the difficult commercial issues arising on marital breakup. Jamie appears frequently and regularly in Manitoba courts in matters involving custody, care and control, child and spousal support and the division of family assets. As a result of his over 10 years' experience, Jamie is frequently retained to prepare separation, cohabitation and pre-nuptial agreements.
Family matters are very stressful, complex and oftentimes traumatic. Jamie believes that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, should have legal counsel when dealing with family legal matters. Jamie devotes a portion of his caseload to those clients who qualify for funding from Legal Aid Manitoba and carries on one of the largest private domestic legal aid practices in Manitoba. Jamie is currently in the process of setting up a program to provide inner city residents, particularly immigrants, with access to legal information.
Jamie enjoys spending his spare time with his wife, Lisa and son, Maximillian.
