David is an experienced litigator who knows that litigation is just one of many tools available to his clients. Litigation is expensive and stressful, but sometimes it is the best or only option. In those cases, David pursues his clients’ interests with diligence and skill. Many other disputes, however, call for a different approach – one that seeks to avoid litigation so that you can get back to your business and your life as quickly and cost effectively as possible. While this approach requires creativity, level-headed assessments, and honest conversations, David is confident that clients want a lawyer who tells them what they need to hear, not what they want to hear.
David helps businesses, governments, and individuals navigate their commercial, contract, partnership, securities, construction, employment, bankruptcy, regulatory, administrative, and other matters, in federal and state court, arbitration, and mediation. David has experience in all phases of litigation, from inception through discovery, trial, and appeal.
David is a practicing mediator who also has significant expertise in arbitration, both international and domestic. He especially enjoys working with clients on complex procedural issues in arbitration, including those relating to jurisdiction, arbitration agreement/award enforcement, and non-parties. David is a member of the Executive Committee of the Atlanta International Arbitration Society, a frequent speaker at ADR conferences, and the author of Georgia Alternative Dispute Resolution, a comprehensive treatise available on Westlaw.
David was previously an associate with two international law firms in New York City and Of Counsel at a leading mid-sized firm in Atlanta. David served as a law clerk to Judge Richard W. Goldberg of the U.S. Court of International Trade. During David’s clerkship, Judge Goldberg sat by designation in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Eighth, and Eleventh Circuits, and in multiple federal district courts. David has taught courses on Arbitration and International Law at Fordham Law School and Emory Law School.
David lives in Druid Hills with his wife, two daughters, and two cats.
