To illustrate the very broad reach of the Primerus Energy and Environmental Practice Groups, for this networking call we are pleased to host two guest speakers: Jamie Manuel, Assistant Secretary of Louisiana Office of Mineral Resources (Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States), who will address “Renewable Energy and Carbon Sequestration in Louisiana” and Heikki Wide, from Magnusson (Helsinki, Finland), who will address “Energy Transition in Northern Europe".

Please join this conference call organized jointly by the PBLI Energy and Environmental Practice Group (EEPG) and the IPC Energy Practice Group (EPG) to get an update from industry professionals and get know some of your colleagues.The event will be limited to one hour.

Renewable Energy and Carbon Sequestration in Louisiana

Guest Speaker: Jamie Manuel

Jamie Manuel joined the Office of Mineral Resources as the Assistant Secretary in June of 2017 and has remained in that role since.  Jamie earned his Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law School at Louisiana State University in 2001.  Following graduation, Jamie joined Gordon, Arata, McCollam, Duplantis & Eagan, attorneys in New Orleans, Louisiana, as an associate in the oil and gas section where he remained for four years. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Jamie returned to Baton Rouge and took a position with the office of the Louisiana Attorney General, serving as Special Counsel for the Louisiana Mineral Board. Thereafter in 2006, Jamie joined the firm of Mayhall Fondren Blaize and managed the firm’s oil and gas litigation for the majority of the 11 years he was there. Jamie has written articles on a variety of oil and gas topics for industry publications and has presented at numerous seminars and conferences for industry professionals on energy related topics including at the 56th, 59th, 61st, and 70th Annual Mineral Law institute (which event attracts a national audience).

Energy Transition in Northern Europe

Guest Speaker: Heikki Wide

Heikki Wide, of Magnusson, has advised companies in the downstream oil sector since the 1990’s, including 7 years in-house. Subsequently, he has gained extensive expertise also in sustainable energy, and he has led Magnusson's energy team in a wide range of wind, solar, and hydrogen and other energy projects. These projects play a very important role in the future green transition of the Nordic energy system in the energy-intensive industrial sector. 

The team also has solid legal experience in the commercialization of various energy systems, including related M&A and contract law, new technologies and cooperation with investors.

Heikki's energy team works seamlessly with Magnusson's ESG & Sustainability team to help create a zero-emission future and promote sustainability together with our clients.
