After obtaining his LLB degree and a BA degree in international economy and trade (second degree) granted by Fudan University and Shanghai International Studies University along with a TEM8 Certificate, Mr. Zhu continued his study in Europe at Leiden University (the Netherlands) and obtained an LLM degree (with honors). He is currently a PhD candidate at Leiden University (the Netherlands). Mr. Zhu is qualified and has been recognized by Shanghai municipality as a senior professional in WTO legal affairs. At the same time, he holds a Copyright Transaction Certificate issued by the Shanghai Municipal Copyright Bureau, which qualifies him as a copyright transaction broker. Before joining Watson & Band, Mr. Zhu served and practiced in the Prosecutors' Office of the International Criminal Court (ICC, the Hague), the Netherlands-China Trade Promotion Committee and the Legal Department of a Fortune 500 company.

Mr. Zhu specializes in various fields including corporate and commercial law, restructuring and insolvency and entertainment law with abundant practical experience. He was named as one of the Top 10 Outstanding Young Shanghai Lawyers in the sixth evaluation and selection of the municipality, and was selected as a Member of the “National One-Thousand-Lawyer Talent for Foreign-related Legal Matters” by the Ministry of Justice. In the 2019 and 2020 Asia-Pacific Guide published by Chambers and Partners, the international legal rating authority, Mr. Zhu was highlighted as being “quite familiar with FDI, day-to-day company operations, JV and liquidation legal services and widely recognized by domestic and overseas clients” for his outstanding performance in “corporate and commercial law”. 

In addition to serving as a professional lawyer, Mr. Zhu has written essays and delivered speeches on legal topics relating to commercial transactions. His essays were awarded the first prize of the research program "Trade Remedies Theory and Practice" by the Ministry of Commerce, the first prize of the Lawyer’s Forum for Six Provinces and One City in East China and the third prize of the Fourth China Trade Remedy and Industry Security Awards. 

Mr. Zhu is also serving as a part-time legal professor at the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, Deputy Directors of the Planning and Regulation Committee and the Bankruptcy and Non-performing Assets Research Committee under the Shanghai Bar Association, Standing Director of the Bankruptcy Law Research Committee of the Shanghai Law Society, Supervisor of Shanghai Institute of Bankruptcy Administrators and a member of the 12th Commission of Shanghai Youth Federation. Mr. Zhu has also been named as an Academic Leader of the Shanghai Xuhui District for the years 2015-2017, Deputy Director of the Social Services Commission of Xuhui District Committee of China Zhi Gong Party and an IP Dispute Resolution Special Mediator for Xuhui District.
