Ben Heinz is an AV-rated trial attorney in Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak’s Mobile, Alabama office. Ben has spent the past 13 years handling complex lawsuits involving medical liability, construction defects, business and construction disputes, personal injury claims and insurance coverage questions throughout Alabama and Mississippi. Ben recently received recognition by the Super Lawyers publication as a 2014 Alabama “Rising Star,” a designation afforded to only 2.5% of all lawyers in the state of Alabama who are under the age of 40 years old.

Ben has licenses to practice law in Alabama and Mississippi. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi. Ben is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and the Mobile Bar Association.

Ben received his law degree from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2001. He graduated with double majors in Economics and Public Policy in 1998 from Duke University.

Ben served as an instructor during the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association’s 2012 and 2013 Deposition Boot Camps and the 2014 Trial Academy. He has written and presented on topics involving risk management for construction projects, insurance coverage issues, and nursing home arbitration clauses.

Locally, Ben was a member of the 2008 Greater Mobile MS Leadership Class. He and his family attend St. Mary Catholic Church where he has served on the Parish Council and the organizing committee for the annual fundraising golf tournament for St. Mary Catholic School. He also coaches youth football and basketball for teams at St. Mary Catholic School. Ben’s hobbies include running, golf, and barbecuing.
