Q & A with Wes Daughdrill

Wes Daughdrill is president and a shareholder of Young Wells Williams P.A. in Ridgeland, Mississippi. He concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal, county, and state government law; business and corporate law; commercial transactions; mergers and acquisitions; securities law; trademark law; and adoption.

A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he also earned his law degree, Daughdrill serves as Board Attorney for both the Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors and the Town of Prentiss. He has developed a significant adoption practice in which he handles intrastate and interstate adoptions. In 2006, Daughdrill was inducted into the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, a group of more than 330 attorneys who practice or have distinguished themselves in the field of adoption law.

Q: Before becoming an attorney, what was your first job?

A: Starting at age 12, I worked in my parents’ grocery store. I did every job you can do in a grocery store.

Q: What motivated you to pursue a legal career?

A: I wanted to be a problem-solver, help people, and make a good living for my family.

Q: Who was your chief mentor and how did he or she influence your career?

A: Jim Neeld. He hired me and taught me how to practice law.

Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

A: Never neglect going to church.

Q: What is one thing you would like to learn to do?

A: I would like to learn to play guitar.

Q: What is your proudest career achievement?

A: I’m most proud of being elected president of our law firm.

Q: What other career path might you have chosen?

A: Banking.

Q: What is your most treasured material possession?

A: Pictures of my wife and children.

Q: What is your happiest childhood memory?

A: Family vacations all over the U.S.

Q: What is your favorite movie and book?

A: Movie: “A Christmas Carol.” Book: The Bible.

Q: What is the most awe-inspiring place you have visited?

A: Yellowstone National Park.

Q: What are your favorite leisure time pursuits?

A: Traveling with my family. Hosting a rock radio show.
