Mandelbaum Salsburg Gold Lazris & Discenza, PC (West Orange, NJ) is pleased to announce that for the second year in a row, the firm's attorneys, friends and family participated in two events 2,000 miles apart to raise money and awareness for the fight against ovarian cancer.

Primerus member firm Mandelbaum Salsburg of West Orange, New Jersey has always encouraged its attorneys and staff to make community service a priority and the firm takes it to heart.

For the second year in a row, the firm’s attorneys, friends and family participated in two events 2,000 miles apart to raise money and awareness for the fight against ovarian cancer. In early October in its hometown, the firm sponsored a team in the annual “West Orange Mayor’s 5K Walk/Run to Break the Silence of Ovarian Cancer.” As it did last year, “Team Mandelbaum Salsburg” honored the memory of Roslyn (“Roz”) Steinberg, wife of retired Mandelbaum Salsburg partner, Richard Steinberg, who now lives in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Roz succumbed to ovarian cancer in 2009.

Two weeks after the West Orange event, the Steinbergs’ teen-age granddaughter, Danielle, captained a team in Stuart, Florida in the annual American Cancer Society’s “Walk For the Cure”. Danielle’s “Team Roz” had more team members and raised more money than any other group participating in the event.

Together, the two groups raised close to $16,000, according to Robin F. Lewis, a partner in West Orange who, together with associate Casey Carhart, coordinated the firm’s New Jersey walk. “Everyone’s life has been touched by cancer. Events like this are so important, not only to raise awareness and money to find a cure, but also to honor those who have struggled with cancer” said Lewis.

This is the second walk benefitting cancer research that the firm has sponsored this year. Mandelbaum Salsburg is a member of the PBLI group.
