New Partners Showcase Firm’s Commitment to Client Service, Future and Growth
January 2018 - Islandia, New York - Lewis Johs Avallone Aviles, LLP announces the promotion of four lawyers to its partnership: Rebecca K. Devlin, Carl A. Formicola, Stacey Gorny and David L. Metzger, as well as two new partners: James P. Connors, formerly with Catalano, Gallardo & Petropoulos, LLP and Scott O. Frycek, formerly with Martin, Clearwater & Bell, LLP. These partnerships are a result of the firm’s commitment to the advancement and recruitment of talented lawyers in a way that serves to grow the practice to align with client needs.

Connors defends individual and institutional clients in state and federal courts in actions arising from nursing home liability, medical and professional malpractice, premises liability, vehicular accidents and products liability. He earned a J.D. degree from St. John’s University (1999) and he received his B.A. from College of the Holy Cross (1996). He resides in St. James, NY.
Devlin represents individuals, business entities, and municipalities in all areas of defense litigation, including municipal liability, premises liability and vehicular negligence. She earned her J.D. from Quinnipiac School of Law (2006) and her B.A. from Hofstra University (2003). She resides in Hauppauge, NY.
Formicola focuses on litigation and trial of medical malpractice and general liability defense cases. He also handles appeals in these practice areas. Carl is a graduate of Fairfield University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in History. He spent a year abroad studying at the Sorbonne in Paris and graduated with a juris doctor degree cum laude from Tulane University School of Law. Carl resides in Manhattan.
Frycek represents physicians, nurses, hospitals, and health care facilities in the defense of medical malpractice and professional liability cases. He earned his J.D. from the University of Buffalo School of Law (1998) and his B.A. in Political Science from State University of New York at Geneseo (1995). He resides in Mount Sinai.
Gorny focuses her practice on the defense of corporate, commercial and individual clients in state and federal courts involving cases of civil litigation, premises liability, construction accidents, property damage, labor law, vehicular negligence and commercial litigation. She also volunteers her time as Vice President of the Moxxie Mentoring Foundation, which is a nonprofit corporation that works toward mentoring college women on Long Island. Stacey earned her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School (2000) and her B.A. from The Pennsylvania State University (1997). She resides in Oceanside, NY.
Metzger focuses on medical malpractice, general liability and construction accident defense. He also represents construction companies and commercial properties for all City and State agency violations before the criminal courts and the Environmental Control Board. Dave earned a B.A. from Lehigh University (1991) and a J.D. from The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (1994). He resides in Manhattan.
