Raleigh-based law firm Smith Debnam today announced that Smith Debnam Partner, Byron L. Saintsing, has been elected Chair of the Primerus Business Law Institute of North America (PBLI). Primerus is an international society of top-rated, independent, boutique law firms. The Business Law Institute of Primerus brings together top-quality law firms with expertise in business-related practice areas such as bankruptcy law, construction law, labor and employment, and real estate. PBLI firms share common values and a commitment to providing client-centered service and fee structures that are best in class.

Saintsing has been actively involved in Primerus since Smith Debnam joined the organization in 2009, taking on progressively increasing roles of responsibility and leadership each year. As Chair, Saintsing will oversee the strategic development of programming geared towards promoting the capabilities of member law firms to in-house counsel and other referral sources. He will also coordinate and run all meetings of the PBLI Executive Committee. Saintsing’s term as chair expires at the end of 2016.

Saintsing has represented clients in the construction and heavy equipment leasing industries for more than 23 years in matters involving mechanics liens, bond claims, delay claims, warranty disputes, and numerous bankruptcy issues. Saintsing earned his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998 and received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Wake Forest University in 1985.

About Primerus

Formed in 1992, Primerus is a society of the world’s finest independent, boutique law firms. With nearly 200 member firms in more than 40 countries, Primerus provides clients easy access to the right lawyer, with the right skills, in the right location, and at the right cost. The Wall Street Journal has compared Primerus to the “Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval” for law firms, and for good reason. Primerus seeks out, accepts and retains only the best firms for membership, using all the ratings services available, including Martindale Hubbell, Best Lawyers, Chambers and Legal 500, to ensure the law firms asked to join Primerus are the best in the world. Primerus then conducts a more extensive investigation of the firm, with an independent accreditation board having the last word on admission and retention of members.
