Upcoming Global event could usher in a new era full of hope

In some seven months, we will take the “World of Primerus™” to a site that is rich in history and steeped in symbolism for the betterment of mankind.
The 2023 Global Conference for Primerus™ will take place this October in Paris, and more specifically the nearby city of Versailles, home to the landmark Palace of Versailles, the massive royal residence built in the 17th century by King Louis XIV of France.

The palace, with its lavish gardens and fountains, is a spectacular example of French classical architecture while also serving as a beacon of hope when the peace treaty that formally ended World War I – the “war to end all wars” – was negotiated and signed in June 1919 by the Allies and Germany.

For all its good intentions and the resulting creation of the League of Nations, the treaty would eventually become a flashpoint for German resentment, giving rise to a fascist regime led by a maniacal tyrant whose thirst for revenge and power would spark World War II.

Hitler’s attempt at world dominance would take nearly six years before it turned to ashes, costing tens of millions of lives and causing widespread destruction, serving perhaps as history’s most disturbing example of a man gone completely and utterly mad.

His modern-day wannabe now calls the Kremlin his home, directing a bloody invasion of neighboring Ukraine over the past year that has turned into a deadly stalemate with untold casualties and no end in sight.

Putin’s military missteps and political miscalculations run the risk of snowballing into a nuclear conflict where there will be no winners, only the certainty of a world searching for answers as to why yet another madman has taken civilization to the brink of disaster.

President John C. Buchanan

This world crisis, like so many before, demands a concerted and unified response in an effort to restore hope that a sense of goodness can prevail before we are left once again to assign blame for specific societal failures.

It is why we launched the Primerus™ Foundation last year, believing that famed author and cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead was spot on when she said: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Her words, timeless as they may be, have inspired us to take constructive action, building upon a groundswell of support to reestablish right where there is so much wrong.

Our efforts to promote the “power of good” will be unveiled in full at this year’s Global Conference, offering us an audience from around the world to hear a message delivered with the concept of our Six Pillars in mind.

At this global gathering, we encourage each Primerus™ law firm to send at least one representative, which will underscore our commitment as a worldwide legal alliance to the preservation of the rule of law and the democratic principles we cherish as free societies.

In its current form, the Primerus™ Foundation is being molded as an instrument designed to facilitate positive political change in a non-partisan fashion, to be carried out by leaders respected for their honesty, integrity, fairness, and good judgment.

“Good,” of course, is the key word here, and reflects the origins of Primerus™ itself, an international legal community bound together by our trademark phrase, “Good People Who Happen to Be Good Lawyers.”

Those words can be extended to include all supporters of the Primerus™ Foundation, which has the potential to be a global force for good, promoting peaceful resolutions of conflicts whether they be big or small.

Our desire in that regard comes with no strings attached, and instead is grounded upon an unwavering commitment to serve the public good, upholding the fundamental qualities of honesty and integrity at every turn, however challenging that may be.

The willingness to take a stand is without regard to political boundaries and partisan divisions, thereby ensuring that an effort to do good can make a lasting and powerful impact for generations to come.

Best regards,
Jack Buchanan, President
