Q & A with Alya Batrisiya

An associate attorney with Leks&Co in Jakarta, Indonesia, Alya Batrisiya joined the firm in 2021 after obtaining her law degree from the University of Indonesia.

Before joining Leks&Co, Batrisiya served as an intern at Yayasan Kesejahteraan Karyawan Bank Indonesia and then with the Resolution and Monitoring Division for the Ombudsman Republik Indonesia.

At Leks&Co, she is involved in construction and real estate law, as well as general corporate and commercial cases.

Q: Before becoming an attorney, what was your first job?

A: Being an attorney is my first job.

Q: What motivated you to pursue a legal career?

A: The need to keep learning new things.

Q: Who was your chief mentor and how did he or she influence your career?

A: My chief mentor is Mr. Eddy M. Leks because of his work ethic, intelligence, and integrity.

Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

A: Focus on the process and results will come.

Q: What is one thing you would like to learn to do?

A: One thing that I would like to learn is diving.

Q: What is your proudest career achievement?

A: My proudest career achievement so far is winning the first geographical indication case in Indonesia.

Q: What other career path might you have chosen?

A: I might have chosen to be an entrepreneur.

Q: What do you do to give back to your community?

A: By sharing knowledge related to legal matters.

Q: Can you share a positive experience within Primerus™?

A: My positive referral experience with Primerus™ is able to meet attorneys from other countries and increase my knowledge about legal issues from other countries.

A: My book collection.

A: My happiest childhood memory is meeting the third president of Indonesia, Mr. B.J. Habibie.

A: Movie: “Crazy, Stupid, Love”

Q: What is the most awe-inspiring place you have visited?

A: Museum Perjuangan Bogor.

Q: What are your favorite leisure time pursuits?

A: My favorite things to do in my leisure time is watch movies.

A: Don’t let your dreams, be dreams.

Q: Who is on your guest list for the ideal dinner party?

A: My family and my friends.

A: Pursue my master’s degree. Travel around the world. Owning a property.
