NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA—May 2022—Gordon Arata welcomes John Philip “J.P.” Graf to its Lafayette office. J.P. represents clients in commercial disputes and litigation, including energy, natural resources, oil and gas, and general commercial litigation. He is also experienced in product liability, premises liability, industrial accidents, and maritime and offshore matters. He has served as lead trial counsel and co-counsel, managing litigation matters from intake through trials and appeals, in state and federal courts throughout Louisiana. Additionally, J.P. represents and assists clients in the start-up, acquisition, and divestiture of their businesses. Sam Masur, a member of Gordon Arata’s management committee, said, “J.P.’s addition to our ranks is a most welcome one. Before graduating from law school, J.P. clerked for the Honorable Patrick J. Hanna, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Louisiana. During law school, he interned at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

J.P. received his J.D./D.C.L. from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he was a member of the Journal of Energy Law and Resources. He received his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. J.P. is an Honors Graduate of Notre Dame Catholic High School of Acadia Parish.
