I am a graduate from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law. Prior to obtaining my law degree, I attended Carleton University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) majoring in Law with a Concentration in Business Law.
During my time as a student, I worked at the Canadian Transportation Agency, a regulatory tribunal specializing in accessibility for people with disabilities. In that position, I was exposed to the fields of commercial regulation, public policy as well as alternative dispute resolution processes. I also assisted in the development of the Agency’s most recent accessibility regulations.
Throughout law school, I sought out practical legal experience through various internships and volunteer positions. I completed two family law internships where I catered to the needs of a diverse client base and dealt with issues including family violence and substance abuse. In addition, I spent time as an intern in Vancouver, BC, working at a boutique firm practicing corporate and real estate law. I also served as the Co-Chair of Equity for the Women’s Legal Mentorship Program, providing accommodations to members from equity-seeking groups.
Born and raised in Ottawa, community has always been important for me. In my spare time, I volunteer writing blogs for Ottawa’s Interval House Women’s Shelter. I also spend my time with members of Ottawa’s Egyptian community, leading a youth choir and helping prepare authentic Egyptian cuisine to fundraise for communities in Egypt.
Outside of law, I have a passion for travel and seeing new things – highlights include visiting the Irish Cliffs of Moher, swimming in Paradise Island’s crystal-clear waters, and spice shopping in the souks of Morocco.
