Raj Gadhok focuses his practice on civil litigation, handling complex business disputes, employment discrimination, whistleblower and wrongful termination cases, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death and medical malpractice cases, contested estate matters and other substantial litigation.  He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States as well as the state and federal courts of both New Jersey and New York.  Mr. Gadhok started in the practice of law in the area of medical malpractice defense litigation.  

Experience

Mr. Gadhok is a graduate of the Rutgers University School of Business (B.S. Finance 1996) and Seton Hall University School of Law (J.D. 1999).  While at Rutgers, he served as Vice President of the Rutgers School of Business Governing Association (1995-1996).  Today, he remains as an active supporter of the Rutgers University Alumni Association, as well as the Scarlet "R" Club.  Mr. Gadhok continued with his extracurricular community efforts at Seton Hall Law, where he served for two years as a volunteer for the New Jersey Mentor Program, tutoring inner city youths for moot court competition.  His students performed exceptionally at competition and, at the conclusion of his studies, Mr. Gadhok was honored for his dedication and contributions to the program as a student coach and mentor.

While his clientele is extremely diverse, Mr. Gadhok utilizes his background in both legal and financial disputes to represent leaders from the business, professional, and sports and entertainment worlds in many high-profile and complex litigation matters.  He has both represented and sued publicly and privately held corporations, partnerships and individuals in connection with a wide range of litigation issues.  Mr. Gadhok has experience pursuing and defending business disputes, including claims for breach of contract, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference with contract, unfair competition, breach of restrictive covenants, and misappropriation of trade secrets before the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York.

Mr. Gadhok served as lead trial counsel for the plaintiff in the case of Eric Murdock v. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, a wrongful termination case which drew global media attention and set groundbreaking precedent as to how athletic programs, educational institutions and professional sports organizations deal with bullying and harassment.  Over the course of his career, he has represented numerous current and former members of the National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball (MLB) communities, as well as members of the music and entertainment industry.

Mr. Gadhok and his cases have been widely featured in the national media, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, USA Today, Star Ledger, New York Daily News, New York Post, Bloomberg, Reuters, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, Fox News, ESPN, CNN and 20/20.  He has been named as a “Rising Star” and “Super Lawyer” in the Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2009.  Mr. Gadhok has also regularly appeared as a panelist and guest speaker for numerous educational and legal training programs approved for Continuing Legal Education credit, including a recent program at MetLife Stadium on the issue of the National Anthem protests during the 2017-18 NFL season.

A lifelong Essex County resident, Mr. Gadhok is an active member of his community and has taken leadership roles on the Executive Boards of both the Essex County Bar Association (ECBA) and the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA).  He served as the Chairperson of the ECBA Young Lawyers Section from 2006 through 2007, and was the recipient of the ECBA Young Lawyers Achievement Award.  Mr. Gadhok also served on the Executive Committee of the NJSBA Young Lawyers Division from 2008 through 2010.  Most recently, Mr. Gadhok was elected and installed as President-Elect of the Essex County Bar Association where he has served as a member of the Board since 2006.  He will be sworn-in the ECBA President in April 2018.
