Michael W. Kiernan focuses his practice on Family Law and Civil Litigation. He is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.

Michael began his career as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey representing the Division of State Police and Department of Corrections in various civil rights related matters. Thereafter, he spent several years at large firms focused on commercial litigation.

In 2005, Michael began his own firm where he spent approximately 10 years representing individuals and businesses in a variety of matters including divorce, custody and civil litigation.

Michael’s current focus on Family Law springs from his client-centered representation of clients. Michael is firmly convinced that representation of a Family Law client not only requires superior legal skills and knowledge but an understanding of the dynamics that place a family in conflict. All too often attorneys label themselves Family Law attorneys but have no understanding of what causes the underlying conflict nor how the legal issues are impacted by those conflicts. Michael engages with his clients in a holistic manner to keep them keenly focused on the legal issues while understanding that the emotional issues are often overwhelming and must be accounted for in client representation.

Michael continues to represent individuals and businesses in Civil Litigation. In this regard, he combines his big firm experience with his client-centered approach. Michael and his clients identify their goals and plan for their efficient achievement while maintaining ongoing communication to adjust as necessary.
