Mr. George is an Attorney at Law with over 26 years of experience in the Courts of Trinidad & Tobago and is the main Advocate and Principal Attorney of Martin George & Co (MAGCO). He has a deep and abiding love and passion for his Nation of Trinidad and Tobago and this is exhibited by a strong sense of social service. He served on the Prime Minister’s Constitutional Committee for Internal Self-Government for Tobago which conducted public hearings throughout Trinidad and Tobago and submitted a comprehensive Report to the Cabinet on Internal Self-Government for Tobago.

Mr. George had previously been appointed by the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and served for three (3) years as a Commissioner on the Law Reform Commission of Trinidad & Tobago. Mr. George is the Founding Chairman of Crimestoppers Trinidad & Tobago and he is still a Director there and is the Legal representative of Crimestoppers International for the entire Caribbean region. He is a member of the Trinidad & Tobago Chamber of Commerce having served as Chairman of its Firearms sub-Committee, a Member of its NOVA Committee and Former Chairman of its Crime & Justice Committee and Member of its Neighbourhood Watch Committee.

Mr. George is the most experienced Medical Negligence Attorney in Tobago and along with Professor ALFREDO WALKER who is based in Canada, Mr. George is a Charter Founding Member of the CARIBBEAN ASSOCIATION OF FORENSIC SCIENTISTS, having delivered a conference paper on Medical Negligence in the Caribbean at their inaugural conference at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus in 2016. At its 2nd Annual Conference in St. Vincent & the Grenadines: CARIBBEAN FORENSIC SCIENCES – The Intersection of Medicine & Law, he delivered two papers on Medical Negligence in the Caribbean and on the formation of a Caribbean Medical Negligence Advisory Board. Mr. George also was a panelist and delivered sterling contributions on THE DEATH PENALTY DEBATE– A Caribbean Perspective. He was also a feature speaker the following year making further contributions on the Law of Medical Negligence in the Caribbean. Mr. George is a former Vice President of the Tobago Lawyers Association and continues to be an active member there and also served as a leading Member of the Tobago Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Commerce having served as its Vice-Chairman. Mr. George is currently the Chairman and Founding Director of the indigenous and locally based TOBAGO BUSINESS CHAMBER which has taken the lead in advocating and articulating on behalf of Tobago and Tobago business interests. Mr. George is currently the longest serving Commissioner of the Police Service Commission having been approved unanimously by both sides of the House of Parliament on three occasions for three (3) consecutive three (3) year terms after being nominated for this position by the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago repeatedly since July 2010. Mr. George currently serves as Chairman of the Appeals Tribunal of the Police Service Commission which hears Appeals from Police Officers against the Commissioner of Police on matters of Promotion and Discipline within the Police Service of Trinidad and Tobago and he has lectured and conducted training courses for Senior Police Officers on the conduct of Disciplinary Tribunals.

Mr. George served for years as a Member of the Port of Spain Rotary Club and the San Juan Rotary Club and also as a member of the Toastmasters International. He is a Member of UWI Tennis Club and served for ten (10) years as a weekly columnist in the Sunday Guardian newspapers writing hundreds of columns and articles for publication and at times he contributed as a Guest Columnist for the Tobago News.

Mr. George appears regularly on Television and Radio talk shows and Commentaries, as a guest commentator and his commentaries span the range of topics from socio-political to Legal, Economic and Jurisprudential issues.

Mr. George is also the Charter Founding Member of the Medical Complaints Council & Advisory Board of Trinidad & Tobago, a voluntary non-profit organization, designed to help raise public and private health-care and medical treatment standards throughout Trinidad & Tobago and seeking to partner with the Ministry of Health to improve quality standards and achieve Internationally accepted benchmarks in the provision of Primary and Secondary Health Care Services in Trinidad and Tobago.

Mr. George is a Patron and avid supporter of his Alma Mater Scarborough RC Primary School in Tobago and has pledged a ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR ($100,000.00) Scholarship Fund to the School and in memory of his Mother who taught at that school, he hands out the annual ALTHEA GEORGE Memorial Scholarships and Prizes, to the top performing students at the school, as a means of motivating and inspiring them to always aspire for Excellence. Mr. George has served as a Mentor, guide and inspiration to many young persons in the society.

Mr. George has a strong sense of caring for the less fortunate in Society and is a strong supporter of the St. Vincent De Paul Society and he is also the Founding Director of THIS-ABILITY, a non-profit Organization created to enhance and showcase the abilities of the disabled members of our society by focusing not on the “disability”, but by showing the world that they have “THIS-ABILITY”.
