Q & A with Tubagus Wahyu Ryan Wardhana

An associate with Leks&Co in Jakarta, Indonesia, Tubagus Wahyu Ryan Wardhana has been a member of the firm since 2022.

A 2018 graduate of Pancasila University, Wardhana focuses his law practice in the areas of real estate, construction, general corporate, and commercial dispute resolution matters.

Q: Before becoming an attorney, what was your first job?

A: Being on the legal staff of The General Election Supervisory Agency (BAWASLU) Tangerang Selatan in 2018 for two months.

Q: What motivated you to pursue a legal career?

A: To become one of the best attorneys in Indonesia and a rich person.

Q: Who was your chief mentor and how did he or she influence your career?

A: My managing partner Mr. Eddy M. Leks because of his work ethic, intelligence, experience and integrity, and his personality. And also, Mrs. Rahayu Soed, partner of Makarim & Taira, because she is the best attorney from my alma mater (Pancasila University).

Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

A: Keep going and growing until you become the best.

Q: What is one thing you would like to learn to do?

A: I would like to learn to play golf and to enjoy sports.

Q: What is your proudest career achievement?

A: My proudest career achievement so far is being an attorney who is responsible for handling litigation and dispute resolution cases and to keep winning.

Q: What other career path might you have chosen?

A: I might have chosen to be a motivator, business owner, or photographer.

Q: What do you do to give back to your community?

A: By sharing my knowledge and experience related to legal matters.

Q: What is your most treasured material possession?

A: My spirit in growing up and my LEGO sets.

Q: What is your happiest childhood memory?

A: Winning the tournament of poetry in the Gontor Islamic Boarding School.

Q: What is your favorite movie and book?

A: Movie: Anything that is of the adventure, action, and conspiracy genres.
Book: “The Da Vinci Code” by Dan Brown.

Q: What is the most awe-inspiring place you have visited?

A: Every beach in Indonesia.

Q: What are your favorite leisure time pursuits?

A: Playing golf.

Q: What is your favorite famous or inspirational quote?

A: “Go big or go home” and “everything has a price.”

Q: Who is on your guest list for the ideal dinner party?

A: My family and my partner and other inspiring people.

Q: What are the top three items on your bucket list?

A: To be listed on 100 A-list lawyers in Indonesia like Mr. Eddy Leks. Travel around the world. To become rich in order to help many people. To be listed in arbitration institutes in Indonesia and foreign countries as an arbiter.
