The PBLI International Summit is an annual event that provides you an opportunity to network with your fellow Primerus members and interact with in-house counsel and corporate executives. Join us as we explore the impact of the “Rule of Law” on the international marketplace and global business.
The 2023 “Rule of Law” theme was born out of a desire to thoughtfully approach the legal industry’s continued role in the international socio-political landscape. The 2023 summit will be a chance for thought leaders to consider on a more critical level how the principles defining the rule of law affect their own practices and clients – principles such as equality before the law, impartiality, democratic processes, transparency, the exercise of power, and the curbing of arbitrariness.
In addition to delving into the roles that attorneys and in-house counsel play in upholding the rule of law, the summit will also explore how the Rule of Law as a concept influences international diplomacy, policy, and trade. How do we navigate legal systems when the Rule of Law looks different in other parts of the world? What are the ripple effects on the international marketplace when there are emerging issues concerning the rule of law? What cooperative steps can be taken to deal with these issues on both national and global levels? As part of law-based societies, what are the challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities we’re faced with?
It’s our hope that fostering conversations between industry leaders on some of these topics will lead to a greater understanding for all and will provide a clearer picture of practical steps that can be taken in today’s legal and business climate
