Ian joined Donato, Brown, Pool & Moehlmann in 2012 and became a partner in 2020.  He has a broad range of experience, having representing individuals and corporations in wrongful death, personal injury, professional liability, and Dram Shop litigation.  His practice is focused in Texas.

Notable Cases:

  • Obtained summary judgment for general contractor in suit related to remodel and restoration of existing hotel.  Hotel owner sought more than $3 million in damages.
  • Part of trial team that obtained a defense verdict for a condominium association in a wrongful death claim related to the absence of an anti-tip device on a range.
  • Part of trial team that obtained a defense verdict in a barrel racing accident resulting in quadriplegia.  (case on appeal).
  • Obtained favorable settlement for owner and property manager of a strip center in electrocution death of stucco contractor.
  • Obtained favorable settlement in Dram Shop action resulting in traumatic brain injury resulting from motorcycle accident.
  • On appeal struck plaintiff’s liability expert and overturned judgment on gross negligence. 
  • On appeal affirmed trial court summary judgment affirming appraisal district’s taxation did not violate the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution.
