Josefine Roderigo studied law at the University of Cologne, specializing in criminology, juvenile criminal law, and prison law. She then completed postgraduate studies at Maastricht University, graduating with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in forensics, criminology, and law.

During her legal traineeship, she gained practical experience throughout the criminal justice system – including at the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office (in the departments for serious crimes) – and also gained in-depth insights into the prison system.
