Elise A. Ruff Winter

Elise is an associate who focuses her practice on the defense of commercial, construction, premises liability, product liability, and transportation claims.

Prior to joining Lipe Lyons, Elise worked for a Chicago-based civil litigation firm where her practice focused on medical malpractice, long-term care, and wrongful death claims. She has extensive experience with all aspects of litigation and has obtained positive results for her clients.

Elise obtained her law degree from The John Marshall Law School in 2018. While in law school, she was the Candidacy Editor for the Review of Intellectual Property Law and a member of the Moot Court Honors Board. She was named to the Dean’s List in 2015. She clerked for a prominent civil litigation firm where she assisted on construction, products liability, and complex medical malpractice matters. She also was a judicial extern for the Honorable Justice Robert E. Gordon, where she assisted in drafting opinions on a variety of legal issues.Elise is a member of the Women’s Bar Association and she was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2021.

Education

Elise earned her Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 2018, where she was a member of the Moot Court Honors Board. She graduated from Indiana University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Certificate in Political and Civic Engagement.

Admissions

Elise was admitted to practice in Illinois in 2019 and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2021.
