Nancy H. Zhao

Nancy Zhao is an attorney in our real estate group, where she advises real estate developers, investors, and other clients on a wide range of real estate transactions, including the acquisition and disposition of retail, office, industrial and hotel properties.

Nancy’s practice focuses on the processing of entitlements and negotiating transactional documents associated with land use, project development, and construction, including agreements between private and public entities. She has also counseled clients on an array of real estate issues, including zoning, planning and title. Nancy’s experience has included business transactions, public and private security offerings, and licensing work with biopharmaceutical companies.

Prior to joining Greenberg Glusker, Nancy was an associate at large international law firm in San Diego and an associate at one of Hawaii’s largest law firms. Nancy has also served as Legal Counsel for EDF Renewable Energy, Inc. in San Diego, where she represented EDF in mergers and acquisitions of wind and solar energy projects in North America. Prior to attending law school, Nancy was a bank loans closer at Anchorage Capital Group, LLC, in New York City.

Education and Community Involvement

Nancy received her J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, where she was an Associate Editor of the Michigan Journal of Race & Law.  Nancy also served as an Advanced Student Attorney in the University of Michigan International Transactions Clinic, where she performed legal analysis for non-profit organizations with impact investment operations in Asia, Latin America and Africa.  Nancy served as a board member and Vice President of the University of Michigan Law School Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.

Nancy serves on the Board of Directors of the Maui County Bar Association. As a member of the Board, she works with the Maui County Bar to help promote the legal profession, unite the attorneys on the island of Maui, inspire justice by providing legal information at the Self Help Center, educate the residents of the County of Maui of the legal system and provide scholarships for students who intend to pursue education in the field of law.
