Jeremy is a native of Mobile with more than 26 years of experience in litigation claims involving catastrophic injury, fatalities, and damages, primarily in transportation and heavy industry. He is a member of the Christian & Small Commercial Vehicle 24/7 Response Team. Jeremy routinely defends multi-million-dollar cases, has mediated hundreds of cases, and has tried numerous cases in the state and federal courts of South Alabama.

Jeremy is an active community member and the former chair of the Commercial Transportation Litigation Committee of the Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. He is a frequent speaker for organizations including the American Bar Association, Transportation Mega-Conferences, the Trucking Law Committee of DRI, the Mobile Bar Association, and the Baldwin County Bar Association. He is the former President of the board of the Child Day Care Association, a nonprofit early childhood development center, which is the oldest active childcare provider in Alabama.

Jeremy and his wife, Rachael, have two children, Will and Claire, who attend college in Florida and Mississippi, respectively.

Representative Experience

  • Obtained a defense verdict in Baldwin County, where the Plaintiff claimed an illegal and improper “jug handle turn” made by the Defendant, a trucking company, resulted in an accident resulting in a claim for a neck herniation. The defense argued that the Plaintiff was contributorily negligent in causing the accident, that the trucking company itself was not negligent at all, and that the Plaintiff’s damages were diminished. The Plaintiff originally asked the jury for a range of $350,000 to $1.6 million. After a week-long trial, the Plaintiff was awarded $0.00 in damages and entered a verdict in favor of the Defendant.
  • Obtained Summary Judgment on behalf of a safety consulting firm in a case involving a severed limb at a lumber processing facility. The lawsuit named numerous defendants and was filed in a jurisdiction infamous for large plaintiffs’ verdicts.
  • Successfully defeated a Motion to Dismiss filed as a result of a counterclaim. The case involved an injured railroad worker who was a passenger in a pay-for-hire transport vehicle that became involved in an accident with a commercial motor carrier, whom Jeremy defended. The claimant-passenger filed suit against the owners and drivers of both vehicles. The owner of the pay-for-hire transport brought a cross-claim against Jeremy’s client. Jeremy counterclaimed, asserting negligence resulting in lost profits from the accident.
  • Obtained a defense verdict in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama following a two-week-long trial involving an alleged illegal maneuver by a tractor-trailer.
  • Following a week-long trial before the Circuit Court of Baldwin County, Alabama, the jury agreed with Jeremy that, although this was a clear-cut case of liability, the damages were to be limited. Accordingly, the jury awarded only a fraction of that suggested by the Plaintiff’s counsel.
