Ijaz Careem is valued member of the Compensation Law team at Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers and is based in the firm’s Hobart office. He specializes in all types of personal injury claims.
Prior to commencing with Carroll & O’Dea, Ijaz volunteered at the Tasmanian Refugee Legal Services (TRLS). During his time at the TRLS, he assisted lawyers in handling caseloads of clients from refugee backgrounds.

- In 2022-2023, Ijaz was a Careers Director at the Tasmanian University Law Society (TULS)
- From November 2022 to July 2023, Ijaz was a Voluntary Learning Club Facilitator with The Smith Family for Springfield Gardens Primary School, West Moonah, Tasmania and Moonah Primary School, Moonah, Tasmania. Learning Clubs aim to increase student engagement with learning by increasing student’s academic engagement and achievement helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds
- In 2023, Ijaz was a Study Tasmania International Student Ambassador, representing Study Tasmania to welcome and encourage International Students to choose Tasmania as a study destination
- Ijaz is a recipient of the Dean of Laws Merit Scholarship from University of Tasmania
- Ijaz obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tasmania in December 2023
- He received a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, Leo Cussen Centre for Law in November 2024
- He is the Secretary of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association (TAS Branch)
- Ijaz is a current member of the Law Society of Tasmania
- He was admitted as a solicitor in February 2025
- Ijaz joined Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers in February 2025.
