William A. "Drew" Ellis

A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Drew has developed a diverse business, commercial, and real estate practice and has experience in construction, healthcare, and professional liability litigation. Drew represents a wide range of businesses from closely-held, small businesses to publicly traded hedge funds in litigation and transactional matters.  He routinely represents professionals and businesses in asserting and defending breach of contract, negligence, fraud, and business tort claims. Drew represents a broad array of investors, professionals, and tradesmen in real estate disputes, business divorces, facilitating real estate transactions, and litigating commercial and construction disputes.

Drew’s practice includes representation of HOA Boards and COA Boards, and has a depth of experience in maintaining creditors’ rights, and property rights, which includes residential and commercial landlord-tenant law and commercial workouts. He also serves as a Court-Appointed Receiver in complex real estate litigation. Drew assists clients in business formation and planning, and financing, and represents shareholders, partners, and members in negotiating the purchase and/or sale of ownership interest, as well as litigating squeeze-out and freeze-out claims. He further serves small businesses and closely held corporation clients in pre-litigation planning and contract drafting, as well as assisting clients in structuring business and real estate transactions.

Outside of the office, Drew enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his wife, two daughters, and two labs. Drew is an avid runner, biker, and hiker. He also moonlights as a committed home cook.

Representative Experience

  • Successfully defended and settled claims against a commercial purchaser of Structured Settlement Future Payment rights for 50k, Trust where Estate Lawyer embezzled funds belonging to beneficiaries with more than 4mm in potential exposure.
  • Obtained more than 1mm judgment on behalf of domestic and international merchandise investors who fell victim to Amazon.com Power Seller fraud.
  • Successfully mediated claims asserted against a national real estate brokerage on behalf of a commercial electrical infrastructure company and negotiated a $650,000 settlement.
  • Obtained dismissal of fraud and breach of contract claims against National Commercial Real Estate Company over $250,000
  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of Defendant Home Owners Association for breach of contract and negligence claims in connection with a 100-year flood.
  • Obtained favorable settlement of medical malpractice claims against two emergency room Doctors
  • Obtained Summary Judgment in favor of Defendant Security Guard Staffing Agency dismissing claims for negligence, breach of contract, and suppression.
  • Obtained defense verdict in negligence and fraud lawsuit against Commercial Property Owner and real estate agency.
  • Obtained Summary Judgment in favor of Defendant Municipal Water Authority in defending negligence, fraud, and suppression claims.
  • Defended and obtained Summary Judgment in favor of Commercial Electrical Contractor for $238,000 in connection with counterclaims asserted against Plaintiff. Successfully enforced a settlement agreement setting up the dismissal of claims asserted against Defendant Commercial Real Estate Developer totaling over 1,000,000.
  • Successfully settled claims against BP Oil with a value over 1.2 mm on behalf of Containment Boom Manufactures in Mobile, Alabama.
