Jerry T. Myers, John W. Narron, Rose H. Stout, Max R. Rodden, and Bettie Kelley Sousa named North Carolina Super Lawyers; Lynn Wilson McNally, Alicia Jurney, and Sam Fleder named North Carolina Rising Stars

Raleigh-based law firm Smith Debnam today announced that eight Smith Debnam attorneys have been named to the 2015 Super Lawyers and Rising Star lists. Firm managing partner, Jerry T. Myers, as well as John W. Narron, Rose H. Stout, Max R. Rodden, and Bettie Kelley Sousa were include on this year’s North Carolina Super Lawyers list. Lynn Wilson McNally, Alicia Jurney, and Sam Fleder were named to this year’s North Carolina Rising Stars list.

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Each year, fewer than 5% of practicing lawyers within a state receive Super Lawyer recognition. For Rising Stars, which recognizes accomplished attorneys who are 40 or under, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less, the percentage of attorneys recognized is less than 2.5 percent. Super Lawyers determines their selections through a patented process consisting of independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of the state’s top attorneys.

John W. Narron has practiced law in North Carolina since 1977. He was among the first attorneys in the state to earn a Board Certified Specialist designation in Family Law. Narron has been a partner with Smith Debnam since 1987, and has provided legal advice and litigation services to clients in central and eastern North Carolina in all manner of civil disputes. This year marks the tenth consecutive year Narron has been included on the North Carolina Super Lawyers list.

Rose H. Stout is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law. She joined Smith Debnam in 1989 and represents clients in all aspects of domestic law, including divorce, custody, equitable distribution, child support and alimony. This year marks the tenth consecutive year Stout has been included on the North Carolina Super Lawyers list.

Firm managing partner, Jerry T. Myers is a Board Certified Specialist in Creditors’ Rights. He concentrates his practice in creditors’ rights with an emphasis on debt collection, judgment enforcement, and commercial litigation. Myers served as president of the Commercial Law League of America and was instrumental in forming the North Carolina Creditors Bar Association. Myers has appeared on the Super Lawyers list in 2007, and consecutively since 2010.

Bettie Kelley Sousa is a Board Certified Specialist in Creditors’ Rights and a highly experienced litigator in state and federal courts, at both the trial and appellate levels. She represents companies and their owners in a variety of matters, including contract drafting and disputes, business break-ups, and employment issues. This year marks the fifth consecutive year Sousa has been included on the North Carolina Super Lawyers list.

Max R. Rodden has practiced law in North Carolina since 1991. Rodden is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law and represents clients in matters that include divorce, child custody and support, equitable distribution, alimony, post- and pre-marital agreements, annulment, grandparent custody and visitation, termination of parental rights, abuse and neglect proceedings, as well as domestic violence and marital torts.

Lynn Wilson McNally is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law and Mediation. She represents individuals in domestic matters including divorce, child custody, and related issues. McNally is an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association and Wake County Bar Association, as well as the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Raleigh Alumni Association. She serves a local non-profit agency by providing pro bono legal assistance. This year marks the fourth consecutive year McNally has been included on the North Carolina Rising Stars list.

Alicia Jurney is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law and represents clients in child custody, child support, domestic violence, equitable distribution, and alimony matters. Jurney is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association where she serves on several committees. She also serves as chair of the board of directors for Haven House Services, a Raleigh non-profit community support agency. This year marks the fourth consecutive year Jurney has been included on the North Carolina Rising Stars list.

Samuel D. Fleder is licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina, and is a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights practice group. Fleder concentrates his practice in the areas of business litigation, commercial creditor bankruptcy, construction law, creditors’ rights and collections, equipment leasing & finance, foreclosures, and lender liability defense. He is a member of the North Carolina and South Carolina Bankers Associations, and a board member of the Wake County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division. This year marks the third consecutive year Fleder has been included on the North Carolina Rising Stars List.
