Alice Paylor focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation, employment litigation, and school law. She was admitted to practice in the State of South Carolina in 1977 and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. She has served from 2005 to present as a member of its Board of Governors and from 2000 to present as a member of its House of Delegates, of which she is the immediate Past Chair. She is an active member of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, serving as its President during 2006. Ms. Paylor is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association. Ms. Paylor graduated from the University of North Carolina and received her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Personal Information

Alice F. Paylor grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, and now lives on Sullivan’s Island near Charleston with her husband, Kit Regnery, and their two children. She is heavily involved in community service where her participation has included being on the Board of Directors of the Franklin C. Fetter Family Health Center, Inc. and a member of the City of Charleston Redevelopment and Preservation Commission. She presently serves as Chair of the Sullivan’s Island Board of Zoning Appeals. She has served on the Charleston County Bar Association’s Executive Committee, the American Bar Association’s Special Committee on Housing and Urban Development Law, the South Carolina Bar’s Convention Committee and Judicial Qualifications Committee, as Secretary and Treasurer of the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyers Division, as Treasurer and President of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, and as Chair of the House of Delegates of the South Carolina Bar. She is presently the Secretary of the South Carolina Bar and, due to this position, sits on the Bar Board of Governors and its Executive Committee.

Ms. Paylor has practiced with the firm as an associate from 1982 to 1987 and as a partner/shareholder since 1987. She served as the firm’s managing shareholder from 2003 to 2008. From 1978 through 1982, Ms. Paylor served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Charleston, handling routine legal matters and assisting in complex litigation in which the City was involved.

Ms. Paylor participates in numerous legal organizations and associations, including the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar (Secretary, Board of Governors, House of Delegates (Chair), Conventions Committee and Judicial Qualifications Committee), the American Bar Association, and the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association (Treasurer, President-Elect and President and Board of Directors).

Since her graduation from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1977, Ms. Paylor has practiced law in Charleston. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1974.

Ms. Paylor represented the Charleston County School District in a major school desegregation case that resulted in a declaration that the district is a unitary school district. She has also successfully defended several lenders in complex lender liability actions.
