International Arbitration Law

Arbitration is a method of dispute resolution provided in many international contracts. It is the process of resolution of a legal question or matter by arbitrators appointed by the parties or by a court.  Arbitration encompasses many complex legal areas and attorneys often devote their practice to certain types of arbitration, utilizing specific knowledge and experience of the rules applicable. The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has a secretariat devoted to arbitration, but there are many other methods available.

Arbitration involves many complex legal issues which require not only a knowledge of the law that governs the dispute, but also the law governing the procedures to be followed in order to properly arbitrate a claim. There are rules governing who may file a claim, where it must be filed, when it must be filed, and how to file it.
