May 30, 2018 - Richmond, Virginia - In 2007, in response to a study that found nearly 1.2 million Virginians were considered "food insecure", the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia, the Young Lawyers Division of The Virginia Bar Association, and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks joined forces to create the Statewide Legal Food Frenzy - a food and fund drive competition among all Virginia law firms and organizations. In this friendly competition, the law firm or organization that raises the most food (based on a per person average - attorneys and staff) is awarded the prestigious and highly coveted “Attorney General’s Cup.” Over the past twelve years, law firms, legal organizations, and law schools who participated in the Statewide Legal Food Frenzy have raised the equivalent of more than 16 million pounds of food.
"Goodman Allen Donnelly is honored to participate in the Legal Food Frenzy, organizing fun events and collecting non-perishable food in each of our Virginia offices. In 2018, our offices competed against each other building canned food pyramids and held silent auctions, scavenger hunts, trivia contests, potluck lunches, and even a partner pie-in-the-face contest. We also accepted the invitation to volunteer as a group at our regional foodbanks. Our support of the important work done by local foodbanks is magnified by their ability to stretch contributions for greatest impact, and will ultimately result in over 13,000 meals for needy families in our communities. We’re grateful for the chance to give back to our community in this fun competition."
