RENO, Nev. — One of the country’s pre-eminent attorneys representing management in labor and employment law issues, Peter Bennett of The Bennett Law Firm of Portland, Maine, has been elected chair of the Board of Trustees of The National Judicial College (NJC), the nation’s oldest and largest institution of judicial education.

Bennett has served on the NJC Board as a Trustee since 2014.  He graduated from Harvard University with honors and from Boston University School of Law and Graduate School of Management with a JD/MBA.  Attorney Bennett has been a leader in his community and within the American Bar Association (ABA) for over 25years.  He is widely recognized as a leader in labor and employment law, having been named to Martindale Hubbell’s Bar Register of Pre-eminent Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, Chambers USA, the Nation’s 100 Most Powerful Employment Attorneys and other respected peer-reviewed lawyer-rating publications. He is a fellow with the National College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and has also received the Silver Shingle Award for Service to the Profession from Boston University School of Law.

Peter Bennett has chaired the 36,000 member Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the ABA, has chaired the ABA’s Standing Committee on Judicial Independence, served as special advisor to the ABA’s Standing Committee on the Civil Justice System, is the First Circuit member of the ABA’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, is a member of the ABA’s Commission on the American Jury Project, is a trustee of the Appellate Judges Education Institute, and is the Maine State Delegate to the ABA’s House of Delegates.

Bennett is nationally recognized as a lawyer representing management in the field of labor and employment law and is President of The Bennett Law Firm of Portland, Maine.

The College’s 21-member Board of Trustees sets policy and provides leadership in achieving the College’s mission. Members come from diverse fields, including the law and judiciary as well as business and corporate areas.
