Julie ElkinSpicer Rudstrom, PLLC announced today the return of Julie-Karel (JK) Elkin, former CEO and general counsel of national dance clubs, to its Nashville office. JK practiced at the firm following law school and was named partner in 2001. Her return also brings in the firm’s new health data practice group, which she will lead.

“JK’s return is an honor to our firm,” said Marc O. Dedman, managing partner of Spicer Rudstrom PLLC.  “First, it is reflective that we are a good place to work. Second, for our clients, JK’s experience in business will be invaluable. Because of her role at two national dance clubs, she understands the issues that businesses face. In her role outside the firm, she oversaw, among other things, her company’s health data and privacy compliance, working also for other clients to the same end. She understands the changing landscape of healthcare compliance, and she wants to help businesses protect themselves when it comes to securing sensitive materials. She will also act as our firm’s own Health Data and Privacy Officer. We are beyond excited to have JK back and to launch this new practice.”

JK is an experienced trial lawyer who has worked with several of the nation’s largest insurance companies, as well as independent businesses and personal claims. She will focus on health data needs for businesses of all sizes, as well as on negligence and regulatory claims, torts, contract disputes, mediation and administrative processes. She is returning as a partner.

Following her departure from Spicer Rudstrom a decade ago, JK launched her own firm, where she represented businesses of all types and injury victims. In 2010, she was named as the CEO and general counsel of ADS Brentwood. There, she provided strategic planning and daily operations for the multi-million business.

She earned her J.D. degree from the Nashville School of Law, is a former Tennessee Rule 31 Listed Mediator and has received HIPAA certification training. JK is a member of the Nashville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association.
