November 2021, Montgomery, Alabama – the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA) completed its first ever state-wide community service project. ADLA President Gerald Swann of Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak, P.A., initiated the project and significant donations were made to various organizations around the state.
A Mac & Cheese drive was conducted to benefit the organization Downtown Rescue Mission. The ADLA collected 1,688 boxes of macaroni and cheese for families in need during the holiday season.
A SNACKTOBER Drive was also conducted during the month of October. Snack food items were packed into over 100 snack bags that would be donated to the Birmingham area school system for students facing food insecurity.
Donations were collected for Express-O of Love, a nonprofit that supplied parents with diapers and wipes. 1,300 diapers were collected and distributed to these families in need.
Lastly, the ADLA collected professional clothing for the organization Our Sisters’ Closest. These clothes were often used for interviews and workplaces. 350 articles of clothing were donated.
