Phil’s practice focuses on commercial litigation in state and federal courts. He has experience in a variety of complex litigation matters including complex class actions, business and contract disputes, employment matters, banking litigation, title disputes, insurance matters, construction, products liability, fraud, misrepresentation and other business torts.

As the Firm’s Pro Bono Coordinator, Phil works with the New Orleans Pro Bono Project and other community organizations in providing Gordon Arata volunteer attorneys to low-income and elderly clients on a pro bono basis. Phil personally represents several pro bono clients in litigation and family law matters. Phil is also deeply involved in his church’s community outreach activities, and helped host thousands of volunteers from around the country who assisted in the rebuilding of homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Phil graduated cum laude from Tulane University Law School where he distinguished himself as the Champion of the 2003-2004 Tulane Senior Trial Competition. While at Tulane, he was also inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a national honor society recognizing those who excel in oral and written advocacy.

Before law school, Phil studied music and music business at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. After graduation he worked for four years at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Phil still plays the trumpet in his spare time. He gravitates towards jazz music, which gives him a great appreciation and love of the New Orleans music scene.
