Lucas delivers intelligent, practical solutions to his corporate and business clients. He manages a developing blend of litigation and transactional matters, involving him in Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver’s Commercial, Corporate, and Business Law, OSHA, Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights, Employment Law, and Estate Planning groups. Lucas enjoys a unique practice with a great variety and has a growing reputation for the interest he takes in his cases and the relationships he builds with his clients. His robust research skills and strategic planning provides confidence to his clients throughout the case. Lucas’ clients value him for internalizing their concerns and giving common-sense solutions that benefit their business.

Lucas loves the intellectual aspect of legal practice. He excels in studying a client’s case, thinking through a problem, and crafting direct and effective resolutions. He finds it rewarding to learn about different areas of the law and how they relate to each other. While working with the various teams at Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver, Lucas has been able to learn from experienced litigators in the fields of Occupations Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) law and Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) law. Lucas grew up Woodstock, Virginia. He moved back to the Shenandoah Valley to join Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver in 2016 after receiving his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the College of William & Mary and his undergraduate degree in neuroscience from Duke University. In his free time, Lucas enjoys playing basketball, soccer, and tennis and watching Duke win basketball games.

  • Co-authored analysis essay on recent developments in Virginia election law, entitled Downfall of ‘Incumbent Protection’: Case Study and Implications and referenced at 54 U. RICH. L. REV. 243 (2019). An electronic copy of the publication is available here.
  • Successfully defended political party’s First Amendment right to choose their nominee before the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
  • Emerging bankruptcy practice includes second-chair counsel to successful reorganization of Chapter 11 Debtor-in-possession and successful defense of foreign intellectual property license.
