Katie Capielo’s practice focuses on wealth preservation, estate planning, trust administration, and trust and estate litigation. Prior to joining Brothers Smith LLP, Katie served clients in a similar capacity at a variety of solo and boutique law firms primarily in the East Bay.

Katie advises high net worth individuals and families with tax saving strategies to preserve their estate for multiple generations. She is dedicated to minimizing family conflict by helping clients create an individualized estate plan that preserves their assets from the unnecessary expenses of probate and protects their wishes in the event they are no longer able to speak for themselves.

Katie earned her LLM in Taxation, with honors, and her law degree from Golden Gate University. During law school, she served as a judicial extern to the Honorable John Sugiyama at the Contra Costa County Probate Court.

Before law school, Katie was a film editor and writer. Her creative background translates well today, in her ability to think outside the box, and illustrate scenarios for clients contemplating the difficult decisions often ignored in shortsighted estate planning.
