Joyce Hemmer maintains a broad litigation practice involving professional liability, medical malpractice, product liability, tort and personal injury, premises liability, construction defect, insurance defense, homeowner association liability and contract actions. She joined Elam & Burke in 2019, after 13 years with litigation specialty firms representing individuals and businesses throughout Idaho. Before entering private practice in 2006, Joyce served as law clerk for Idaho District Judge Joel D. Horton in Ada County. While studying at William & Mary Law School, she was a summer law clerk to U.S. District Judge Richard L. Voorhees in North Carolina, extern for the Virginia Court of Appeals Chief Staff Attorney, and Articles Editor for the William & Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review. With a degree in journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill, she excels in legal writing and enjoys putting her skills to work for her clients. Joyce shares her life outside the practice of law with her husband and their two children.
