Janine Matton is Counsel in the Mandelbaum Barrett Healthcare Practice Group. Prior to joining the firm, Janine spent fifteen years in the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, most recently as an Assistant Attorney General in the Affirmative Civil Enforcement practice group of the Division of Law, where she led and supervised complex investigations and litigations in the areas of consumer protection, qui tams, and data privacy in state and federal courts. Prior to that she was Deputy Attorney General and Chief of the Government and Healthcare Fraud section focusing on qui tam suits pursuant to the New Jersey False Claims Act and consumer protection matters pursuant to the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act. Janine has extensive experience in opioid investigations and litigations against opioid manufacturers and has helped the State achieve successful resolutions in those matters. Through this work she has experience procuring and supervising the work of quantitative and subject matter experts in major matters, including forensic accountants, economists, and statisticians.

Janine also served as a Special Assistant to the Attorney General, where she handled policy initiatives including the Governor’s Safe Streets and Neighborhoods initiative, staffed the Police Suicide Task Force, and helped implement the State’s mortgage mediation program in coordination with the Administrative Office of the Courts. Additionally, Janine served as the Attorney General’s designee to the Supreme Court Committee on Women in the Court for eight years, serving as co-chair of the Women of Color Subcommittee and later as Vice-Chair of the full Committee. Janine also spent two years in private practice handling general commercial litigation matters.

Prior to law school Janine worked for over ten years in marketing sciences in the pharmaceutical and telecommunications industries. She is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and holds M.A. and B.A. degrees in economics from Rutgers University.
