Drake is a partner in the firm. He defends professional liability claims, including claims against hospitals, physicians, pharmacies, dentists, veterinarians and attorneys. He frequently represents his clients in trial and before professional licensing boards. He has over 20 years of experience defending claims against professionals and is listed in both Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers. Martindale Hubble gives Drake an “AV-Preeminent” rating. He is active in the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel.
He previously served on the Board of Directors, from 2002-2010, and as the President of the OADC in 2010. Drake continues to serve the OADC as the Chairman of its Government Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Professional Liability Defense Federation. He is admitted to the Oregon State Bar, the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. His professional liability defense practice began in law school while assisting in the representation of attorneys in professional negligence claims. He has spoken to professional groups regarding liability claims and issues in the hospital setting.
Drake grew up in Portland, Oregon. He graduated, with Honors, from Portland State University in 1991. He graduated from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College in 1995. Drake has served in the U.S. Army, worked in the U.S. Senate, the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars and as a Deputy Sheriff for Multnomah County.
Drake lives in Hillsboro, Oregon, near the firm’s offices. In 2006, the Mayor appointed Drake a member of Hillsboro’s Planning and Zoning Hearings Board, where Drake continues to serve as a member of the quasi-adjudicatory panel.
