Dana Van Beek Palmer

Dana is a seasoned member of Lynn Jackson’s litigation group, and specializes in writing trial and appellate briefs.  While she has addressed issues from nearly every practice area, she focuses on civil and commercial litigation. Having devoted the last ten years of her career to writing, Dana is skilled at advocating for the Firm’s clients.  Dana is also often called upon to assist with statutory interpretation, to review various client contracts, and to strategize with other Lynn Jackson attorneys.

Dana hails from northwest Iowa, and graduated, with honors, from South Dakota State University in 1993, with a psychology major and criminal justice minor.  She went on to law school at the University of South Dakota, where she graduated, with honors, in 1996. Dana was then privileged to serve as a law clerk to the Honorable Roger L. Wollman, Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  Dana began private practice in Sioux Falls in 1997, moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, for three years, and returned to Sioux Falls in 2002. Dana enthusiastically accepted the invitation to join Lynn Jackson in 2008.

It was her clerkship with Judge Wollman that sparked Dana’s interest in and love for writing.  With this focus on writing, she has numerous reported cases in the South Dakota Supreme Court, the Federal District of South Dakota and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Dana and her husband Brad have three sons, Grant, Reece and Cole, and she is active in their school and sporting activities.  She is passionate about animals and has two dogs and two cats. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and good friends, as well as traveling, reading, cooking, and watching sporting events.
