Amy Y. Chen

Amy Chen is an associate in Barton’s dispute resolution and regulatory enforcement practice. She has handled commercial litigation matters on behalf of public and private companies at both the state and federal level. Amy has also acted for major insurance companies in multi-jurisdictional litigation. 

Amy’s practice also includes arbitration where she has experience with US and international arbitration, including arbitration under the London Court of International Arbitration. She also has represented clients in enforcing arbitration awards under The Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards, commonly known as the New York Convention.

Amy’s international arbitration experience was gained in part while working in Sherman & Sterling’s International Arbitration Group in Paris, France, and in Nauta Dutilh’s litigation group in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Amy attended Bucerius Law School in Hamburg Germany where she studied International Business and Comparative Law and, received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.

Amy’s internationally driven education and experience are underscored by her wealth of languages. She is fluent in Chinese Cantonese, advanced in Mandarin, and is conversant in both German and French. Amy has interests in astronomy, photography, architecture, and travel, for which she has been published in both The Washington Post and The Economist.
