Amy Gautreaux is an oil and gas attorney practicing in the firm’s Lafayette office. She is a native of St. Martinville and life-long resident of Louisiana. Amy represents upstream energy companies operating in Louisiana. She routinely handles title projects for both major and independent oil and gas companies in unitized and lease basis prospects. Her work focuses on title examination (surface, mineral, royalty and leasehold), drafting title opinions and drafting and interpreting contractual provisions in oil and gas and related contracts. She is experienced in handling multi-Parish projects offshore and in various oil and gas formations and fields throughout Louisiana, including the Cotton Valley, Haynesville, Austin Chalk, Cris R, Burrwood and West Delta Fields. She is skilled in analyzing HBP title involving complicated mineral servitude and mineral royalty ownership interests. Amy regularly advises clients on lease maintenance issues including interpretation of depth severance provisions, Pugh clause provisions, rental payment and royalty obligations and issues arising out of usufructuary and co-ownership interests.

Prior to joining the firm, Amy practiced in the areas of insurance defense, law enforcement liability defense, real estate, family and general business law. She has successfully represented clients in various matters in workers compensation court and in several district courts throughout Louisiana. Amy also has experience working as an abstractor and landman in South Louisiana. This practical experience provides a unique perspective from which to advise Louisiana oil and gas clients.

Amy is active in the administration of the firm, serving on the firm’s Marketing Committee and mentoring associates.
