Bivins & Hemenway, P.A., a full service commercial law firm located in the Tampa Bay area, is pleased to announce that shareholder John Hemenway has been accepted into the 2010-2011 class of The Tampa Connection, an organization whose mission is to prepare class members to become active volunteers and leaders in the Tampa Bay community.

The Tampa Connection is one of Tampa’s most popular vehicles for positive corporate exposure. Not only does The Tampa Connection help businesses and professional firms seek meaningful ways to contribute to the community, but it also helps guide executives into key leadership roles while helping meet Tampa’s growing social, health and education needs.

The Tampa Connection class members participate in meetings where a variety of community leaders bring members up to date on current issues at events. Class members also participate in Team Projects for various non-profit agencies in Hillsborough County. Mr. Hemenway’s team will be working with the American Red Cross Tampa Bay Chapter to develop an awareness campaign for “Piper the Puppy,” a new program intended to provide assistance and a coping mechanism to children displaced by disasters.

John M. Hemenway is a founding partner of Bivins & Hemenway, P.A. Mr. Hemenway’s educational background included substantial coursework in computer programming and systems design at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
