Membership Request

Law firms with the maximum AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell are invited to consider membership in the International Society of Primerus. The membership process begins with the submission of an application and references. Candidates are carefully screened to ensure adherence to high standards of excellence. The membership screening process, which generally takes about 30 days, is outlined here. For more information, please contact Primerus at 800-968-2211 or e-mail your request.

  1. The application requests information about the law firm including policies and practices relating to the Six Pillars of excellence. It also requires the submission of eight references including clients, lawyers and judges. The applicant must also sign a release of information request to be submitted to the firm's malpractice insurance carrier.
  2. A communication is sent to all current member firms with the name of the applicant. Members are invited to respond with information they may have about the prospective member.
  3. An inquiry is sent to the applicant's State Bar Association to ascertain if there have been any grievances filed against the firm or disciplinary actions rendered.
  4. Questionnaires are sent to all references and to the applicant's insurance carrier.
  5. When five reference questionnaires have been returned and the insurance carrier has completed the malpractice history, an internal review is done of the application and supporting documentation. Any concerns are noted.
  6. The full application is then forwarded to the Independent Accreditation Board, for final review and approval. If warranted, this Board will conduct further investigation into any matters of concern.
  7. Candidates receiving approval from the Accreditation Board receive a letter of acceptance, signed agreement, and welcome packet in the mail. After becoming a member, a Primerus staff member conducts an orientation session to help integrate the new member firm into the alliance and familiarize member attorneys with the range of services.
  8. Annual audits are conducted to ensure Primerus member firms are maintaining the standards of excellence to which they committed.
