Legal Scholarship
In addition to our accomplishments in the field of litigation, members of our firm have also established themselves as scholars and lecturers in the field of law. Attorney Timothy J. Aiken has served the legal community as a frequent lecturer at law schools and conventions throughout the nation. Additionally, he is a former president and vice-president of the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers, and successfully litigated the unconstitutionality of the medical malpractice CAP on damages.
Paul J. Scoptur is also an experienced lecturer who has spoken extensively on the subject of personal injury, medical malpractice and Trial Advocacy skills across the country, and has authored several articles including: “Tort Reform: It’s Not About Victims… It’s About Lawyers,” 68 Wis. Law. 12 (June 1995),” Wisconsin’s Underinsured Motorist Coverage,” 62 Wis. Law. 10 (October, 1989) and ” Monitoring the Patient Under Anesthesia” in The Verdict (1985). He is also an adjunct professor of law at Marquette University Law School, where he teaches trial advocacy skills, and has taught at the University of Wisconsin Law School.
