Christian and Small Awards First Diversity Scholarship to Cumberland School of Law Student

The law firm of Christian & Small is pleased to announce it has awarded the first Christian & Small LLP Diversity Scholarship to Cumberland School of Law student Veronica Williams. The $5,000 award is given to a second year law student who has a competitive GPA, does not receive other academic assistance and shows a commitment to diversity in the legal profession.

“We’re committed to diversity at Christian & Small and Veronica is the kind of person we want to see more of in our applicant pool,” said Debbie Smith, Managing Partner of Christian & Small. “Through her academic and professional work and her commitment to our community, she shows great promise as a future lawyer and an active, concerned member of the community.”

Williams, who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Fisk University, is a Dean’s List student at Cumberland. She has worked as a volunteer intern under Jefferson County Family Court Judge Elise Barclay and a volunteer law clerk for Judge Shanta Owens. She has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, the Magic City Bar Association, Lifeline Adoption Services, Family Court Paternity Circuit Docket and as a Civics Instructor for the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama.
